If you already follow me on facebook, this project might look familiar! I actually created this one on a Facebook live video during a Christmas craft-athon.
Painting and Sanding the Christmas Mason Jar:
Like I said, this is such a quick, easy project. All you need is a mason jar, some floral craft foam, three Christmas greenery picks, a little buffalo check ribbon, and some paint. Before we even started painting, I measured and cut the piece of craft foam to fit inside the jar. Then I inserted it in the jar and began painting!
I only painted the outside of the jar with the chalky white paint and a wide, flat-tip brush. I applied two coats. After they dried, I gently scuffed up the outside of the jar using a fine grit sanding block. Mainly just over the word Ball and Mason. I wanted to give it a slightly distressed, vintage look. Next, I just did a layer of matte varnish to protect the finish.
The Finishing Touches on the Project:
Once the jar was painted, it was time to add the finishing touches. So I took a piece of 1″ buffalo plaid ribbon that was about 28″ long. I tied it around the neck of the jar and made a bow.
Then all that was left to do was to insert the three picks into the craft foam! You can play around with the arrangement of your greenery picks – trim them or cut them into separate pieces if you need to. Next, you just arrange them until you get the look you want!
And that’s it! It really only took me about 12 minutes to complete the project. And almost all of my items for this project came from Walmart. Two of the picks came from the Christmas decor section and the lambs ear pick came from the floral craft section. I’ve linked to the items on Amazon if you want to shop online, but you should be able to find them easily at your local Walmart or favorite craft store.
This really is a quick and easy project that anyone can do! It would look great with anyone’s farmhouse Christmas decor. It could also be used as a lovely hostess gift. I plan to put my mason jar in my two-tiered tray that I’m going to decorate for Christmas in my kitchen.
