Christmas DIY Door Hanger Roundup
The weather is starting to turn cooler here, and I’m already thinking about my holiday porch decor! Even if you’re the type of person who hates decorating for Christmas until December, it never hurts to start planning your DIY crafts for your home decor for the season! So here are some of my best-selling Christmas and holiday themed painted door hangers for your inspiration.
For each door hanger, I’ll post a link to my shop where you’ll find a wooden blank that you can order and have shipped to your house, ready to paint. Or, a printable template and digital cut file that you can use with PDF, SVG, etc to cut your own door hanger right at home!
And, in my shop, you can choose the size! I’m showing these here as full-size door hangers, but you can also purchase them in smaller sizes that are perfectly sized as ornaments or wreath attachments!

‘Tis the Season Christmas Tree Door Hanger
This cute “Tis the Season” Christmas tree is one of my newest designs. If you follow me on Facebook, you might have seen my Facebook live post where I painted this tree! If you watch it, you can see how easy this one is for beginners because there isn’t much detail, but plenty of room to give it a custom design that’s all your own. Plus I give some tips for painting your own!

Vintage Red Pickup Truck Door Hangers
These vintage style pickup trucks are such a popular theme for door hangers! I have quite a few truck door hanger options in my shop, including one design that you can switch out the goodies in the back for every season and holiday!
I love the retro feel of this bright red truck with the evergreen Christmas tree in the back. It makes you think of childhood memories of crisp, cold walks in the woods to pick a tree, followed by warm family dinners.
You can DIY this one at home by purchasing the digital cut file and printable template from my shop. Or, you can choose one of the blanks that I have. This first one is etched with the design and the phrase “Merry Christmas” so painting it is as simple as filling in the lines and adding details! If you use a template you can add your own custom design and phrase. You can add your family name or a holiday message for a Christmas door hanger of your very own!
Holiday Home Personalized Door Hanger
Speaking of adding a family name – this door hanger is perfect for your personalization! And this is one of the best Christmas door hangers to give as a DIY gift – whether it’s for a wedding, newlywed couple, housewarming, or just a Christmas present tucked under the tree for your favorite family member. Maybe you’re looking for something a little more traditional for your front door. This ornament door hanger can be decorated with more sophisticated colors and patterns to match your style. I did mine with green swirls, but you can use a variety of patterns to customize yours! There’s also a great space for writing your favorite words or phrase, whether you do handlettering or use a stencil like the ones in my shop. Santa and His Elf Door Hanger
You can’t really get in the spirit of Christmas without a jolly Santa Claus! This door hanger will be a classic for years, with his jaunty red hat and fluffy white beard. And how adorable is this little elf? You can pick your favorite of the two, or buy both as a pair and use them to decorate a double front door. These would work great for wreath accents or tree ornaments, too, if you order them in the smaller size!

Another fun retro-inspired design for a family carrying home their Christmas tree! This time, it’s in a car version! I painted mine with red polka dots, and there are lots of colorful gifts piled up on top.
