Getting Started
Gather all the supplies needed to start painting the ceramic sunflower truck bed lid. First I used the color Daffodil Yellow and a one inch flat tip brush to paint the entire ceramic sunflower truck bed lid. It’s important to wiggle your brush around so that you are able to get paint in all the crevices.
Next, using a 1/4 inch flat tip paint brush I painted the leaves on the ceramic piece using Festive Green. Switching over to the color Honey Brown, I painted the centers of the sunflowers. After the centers of the sunflowers are painted, I used a round tip brush and the color Primary Yellow to paint around the edges of my sunflowers and add dimension.
Your Next Steps
Now comes the fun part, adding the Glazing Medium! I really love this step, because it changes the entire look of your ceramic piece. I start by mixing Asphaltum with the Glazing Medium. Then I pick up the Glazing Medium and Asphaltum mix on a wide brush and dab it all over one side of my ceramic piece. Once that entire side is coated, I wipe and dab it off with a paper towel. Then you just repeat on the other side.
To finish off your piece I encourage you to five the ceramic sunflower truck bed lid a clear coat using the DuraClear Gloss Varnish. This will protect your handy work in the long run!
Add to Your Truck
That was a simple enough painting tutorial, am I right? Once it’s dry you can add the ceramic sunflower lid to the top of your truck bed and you’ll be ready to set it out for fall. I love how the teal truck just makes the yellow sunflowers pop! In case you missed my ceramic truck tutorial you can read about it on my blog.
If you get the chance to paint these or any of the ceramics in our shop, be sure to head to my Facebook page on Mondays to share it with me in the comments of a “Made it Monday” post. I can’t wait to see you there!
