Transform Your Entryway With These Easy DIY Door Decor Ideas

by | Aug 7, 2024

Looking for new ways to decorate your porch? Door hangers aren’t the only solution!

While you know I love all things door hangers, it can be hard to decorate an entire porch if you’re only using them. That’s where adding in things like ribbons, banners, porch leaners, and more comes in!

And to show you how it’s done, I’m highlighting my friend, and Painter’s Clubhouse member, Lauren Martin’s DIY door decor Ideas! She’s great at bringing a “vibe” together, and adding all the small touches to create a theme, no matter the season or celebration.

Here, I’ll show you two themes two different ways, so you can get a few examples and some inspiration on how to decorate your own front porch!

DIY door decor idea #1: Fourth of July, Part 1

Here, you can see how Lauren uses a couple of different door hangers to decorate. And notice how they aren’t all on the front door either! They’re all set in different places to spread out the decoration.

I also love the banner and pillows she used. They make the porch look so inviting!

Aside from the matching the decor to the theme, Lauren did a great job of tying the colors together to make it all come together! Using the antique white and navy blue, she was able to create one cute porch, even with a different color scheme on a few pieces.

And here’s a close-up of the America the Beautiful door hanger she painted, which you can find similar designs in the shop here!

DIY door decor idea #1: Fourth of July, Part 2

These photos are of Lauren’s Fourth of July porch, one year later. You can see that she used some of the same door hangers and decor, but changed the layout a bit.

The takeaway from this is that even with the same decorations, changing up how you display them can make it feel like a whole new theme!

DIY door decor idea #2: Halloween, Part 1

For Halloween, Lauren decorated with a few door hangers, a porch leaner, and tons of pumpkins! I love the throw pillows and blanket draped on the back of the chair. They’re so cozy!

And even though the pumpkins are all in different shades of orange, they all come together flawlessly because of the black she uses in other pieces.

Again, same theme but different layout.

Lauren also added some items that weren’t there the year before, like pumpkins on the steps, a stacked pumpkin porch leaner, and a new banner on the window.

I also love how she took the Frankenstein door hanger template we have in the shop, and turned it into a bigger version! So fun and creative!

Make your DIY door decor dreams come true!

Did you notice that not all of the decorations on Lauren’s porch was handmade? While she did make a lot of it, she also picked up some cute finds from places like Target and Hobby Lobby. It just goes to show you that adding a few simple touches can really make a difference!

Like the door hanger designs you see on Lauren’s porch? We created many of them together inside the Painter’s Clubhouse. However, a few of them were made from templates purchased in the Southern Adoornments Decor shop!
