I know that shipping can be overwhelming or intimidating at times. However, once you get the hang of it you’ll realize how convenient it really is and how much more you can grow your business. If you’re looking for additional ways to grow your door hanger business, check out my blog post on growing your business.

Perhaps you are just getting started with selling door hangers and you want to figure out the best way to ship them. Or maybe you’ve been in business for a while and are looking for more cost effective ways to ship your door hangers. Regardless of where you find yourself at in your door hanger business, I’m sure these shipping tips will be helpful!

Speaking of door hanger businesses, I have a Paint Party Bootcamp that will help set you up for success in your business. I started my business from scratch and have learned so much. Prepping Your Door Hanger for Shipping

Once you’ve put in all the work to complete your door hanger, you definitely want to take the proper steps to prep it for shipping. Before I do anything, I stamp my company logo on the back of my door hanger. It’s such a simple touch that makes it personal and helps people remember my business. I got my stamp here on Amazon.

Next, you want to be sure that your door hanger survives shipping. You’ll be really sad if you find out your hard work didn’t make it to its final destination.

If that happens though, don’t worry, just do what you can to protect it better next time!. In order to protect my door hangers I always wrap them in stretch wrap, especially if I am shipping multiple door hangers together!

Stretch wrap is very similar to saran wrap, but it’s on a stick. You wrap it around the door hangers in order to secure them all together. This will help to eliminate your door hanger moving about in the shipping box. You can find the stretch wrap that I use here on Amazon.

Let’s Package Those Door Hangers

Now that our door hangers are safely wrapped, it’s time to package them for shipment. First we’re going to need boxes! Amazon is a great place to purchase shipping supplies. I would recommend these boxes, because they are the perfect size for door hangers!

You can also get free flat rate boxes from the USPS. In my experience the 1095 boxes have worked really well for smaller door hangers. You can find them here!

Don’t forget the tape! After you have your boxes all packed up and taped you’ll be ready to print those shipping labels!

How to Print Shipping Labels

When you’re learning to ship door hangers the shipping label part of the shipping process may seem intimidating. Don’t worry, I’m here to eliminate that!

There are a variety of ways to find discounted shipping rates. You can print shipping labels online through the USPS or you can use PayPal to get a small discount.

If you are only shipping one door hanger, you can expect to spend about fifteen dollars. However, if you are shipping multiple door hangers, I recommend shipping via UPS or FedEx Ground in order to save some money.

Sometimes you have to invest in your business, and this was one of those times where it was so worth it! When it comes to actually printing my shipping labels, I use my Rollo Label printer.  While this printer is an investment, it will definitely save you in the long run. Unlike a regular printer, you don’t have to purchase ink refills for the label printer.

However, if you’re not ready to purchase a dedicated label printer, that is totally fine! You can purchase these shipping labels that fit your standard printer. They print two to a sheet and are sticky on one side. The sticky backs allow you to easily apply them to your boxes. This is a great affordable option when shipping door hangers.

Shipping a Lot of Door Hangers?

If you’re like me and you find yourself shipping packages quite frequently then you may want to consider ShipStation. If you find yourself shipping more than twenty packages a month, this might be a good investment for you.

When you find yourself shipping packages regularly it may be time to evaluate if your hobby is growing into a business. ShipStation gives you a discount on your shipping labels. It’s cheaper than if you use the USPS shipping labels. The ShipStation platform is also extremely helpful with order management.

I use ShipStation in my online store because of how convenient it is. ShipStation pulls all of my orders from my website and puts it in a list called a pick list. The pick list will tell how many of which items and sizes that I need. I send this list directly to the person who laser cuts my door hangers.

The pick list is also extremely beneficial when it comes to packaging. From that list I am able to print packing slips and shipping labels all at once. This saves me lots of time and money.

If you follow me on Facebook, you might have already seen this Fab 5 video where I talk about ShipStation being one of my favorite business tools. In case you missed it, you can catch the recap below:
