How to Start a Paint Party Business

If you’re just getting started with a paint party you’ll need to choose a business name. This can feel like the hardest part of starting a business, but once you decide then comes the fun part with branding and so much more. Once you choose a business name, you’ll need to make your business legit by applying for any business licenses that you need depending on your state, county, and even city. Once you’re legally legit, you can start creating social media accounts! Prep for a Paint Party

You may be wondering why I’m not recommending diving straight into booking parties, and while it’s not the end of the world if you do book parties next prepping your supplies will help you be more prepared for bookings. First, you’ll need to decide how to price your paint parties. You’ll need to take into consideration the time and money spent on preparing for the party as well as during the actual party and cleanup. Once you’ve decided on pricing, it’s time to stock up on supplies!

I highly recommend buying supplies in bulk for paint parties. If you purchase wood blanks in bulk from my shop you can receive up to a 50% discount depending on how many you purchase. This is a great deal especially if you’re going to be needing blanks often for a variety of paint parties, just purchase them all at once. You can also purchase brushes and paint in bulk to help as well. Once you have those supplies, find the best way to organize them so they’re always easy to grab and transport for paint parties!

Booking Paint Parties

Now it’s time to start booking those paint parties! First, start by creating your calendar. I can’t stress enough how important it is to go into it with dates that you have available and to be as consistent with those dates as possible. If you’re willing to be flexible then you could be at risk of burnout. As fun as paint parties are, they are also a lot of work. Decide how many paint parties you want to do a month then open up your calendar for specific days that you have available to do them!

Once you’ve created your calendar, you will want to establish some forms and operating procedures. Create some party invitations and sign up forms. Canva and Google Forms would be a great place to create these for your business. Next, decide how you plan to communicate with the hostess and the guest about the party, whether that be via social media, email, or a group text. Then decide the final steps you’ll take to finish the pre-party prep!

It’s Time to Party

As the business owner, you’re responsible for how the paint party flows. Don’t fret though there are some things you can do to make it go smoothly. Be sure to arrive early to set up and allow yourself plenty of time. As you’re teaching, be patient with painting guests and understand that everyone is going to be at their own level. We’re here to have fun, and as their teacher you can make sure they leave with something pretty.
