Most of us grew up thinking creativity was something you were born with. You either had it…or you didn’t. And over time, it starts to diminish that creative spark.

But after years of teaching women how to paint door hangers, I can tell you this with full confidence: Talent is not what makes someone stick with painting. Community is.

What Happens When You Try to Paint Alone

Painting by yourself can feel intimidating. Every little mistake feels bigger. Every comparison feels heavier. And the moment something doesn’t go perfectly? You’re ready to quit.

Sound familiar? When you’re alone, there’s no one there to say:

• “It’s okay! Keep going.”
• “That actually looks great.”
• “You’re learning, not failing.”

You have to cheer yourself on, and with the weight of life’s stressors, that can be a heavy burden to carry. Without that support, it’s easy to walk away before you ever give yourself a real chance.

Why a Painting Community Changes Everything

Now let’s flip that. When you paint with other women, something shifts.

Mistakes feel normal instead of embarrassing. Progress feels exciting instead of scary.

“I can’t even draw a stick figure.”

“Yours will look better than mine.”

And then? They stay. They keep showing up. They keep trying. They keep improving.

All because they felt safe enough to continue. It had nothing to do with talent!

What community gives you:

• Encouragement when things don’t go perfectly
• Support to try again instead of quitting
• A reminder that everyone starts somewhere

And that’s where the real magic happens!

Painting Is About More Than the Final Project

Yes, you’ll create something beautiful. But painting is so much more than that.
