Find a Special Toy or Activity
One way to keep the kids entertained is to come up with a toy or activity that they can only do when you’re working. This will keep it fun for the kids, and more than likely gain you some extra time to work before they get bored. Maybe it’s a special toy, a crafty project, or extra screen time, but by making it only available when you’re working, you’ll be able to keep them excited!
Make Fun Plans as a Reward
I try to plan something fun every week for my kids. It doesn’t have to be anything extravagant or expensive, it could be a picnic at the park, a pool day at a friend’s house, or a trip for ice cream. By giving them something to look forward to, you can encourage them to let you work for a bit and when you finish, you’ll be able to participate in the fun activity.
Be Flexible While Working at Home with Kids
One of the most important things you can do, if you have kids at home while you work, is to be flexible. Some days that might require you to paint early in the morning or at night after they go to bed. While there are always things that need to get done, the beauty of running your own business is that you can be flexible with when things get done the majority of the time as long as you are still meeting deadlines.
