Myth 1: I’m Not Good Enough at Painting

Many people believe that they have to be good at painting to teach everyone to paint or to host paint parties. To be honest, I had only painted like three or four door hangers before I taught my first paint party. However, the majority of people that attended my paint parties, had never painted a door hanger before so I was already ahead of them. Reality is, the majority of people attending my paint parties are coming to paint a cute design for their door and have fun painting with their friends. As the teacher, you’re there to provide them with the tips and tools to get them there!

Myth 2: I Live in a Small Town and Nobody Will Pay That for a Paint Party

You might not believe this, but some of my favorite and most fun paint parties have happened in teeny, tiny towns. Why do you think that is? Guys, there is nothing to do in these tiny towns and people would love to get out and not have to travel to have fun or find entertainment! I encourage you to find a local restaurant with a big enough room for a paint party and see if they would be willing to let you use their space as long as participants purchase a meal. This is beneficial for you and your local community that you’re pouring back into!

If you’re brand new to paint parties and aren’t wanting to charge as much, consider starting with a lower price that you are still profiting on and then raise your prices as your skills and confidence grow. If you’re a good teacher and people have a really great time when they come to your parties, then when it comes time to raise your rates after six months or a year they’re not going to blink at it. They’re going to think, “Good for her, she puts on a good paint party and she is worth it!”

Myth 3: I Don’t Have Time to Do Paint Parties

As the business owner, you get to choose the hours for your paint parties. If you’re doing paint parties as a side hustle, choose one day a week that you can devote to paint parties. Then, as you make money and want to devote more time to it, you can, but devoting one day a week will help you prioritize your goals and plan parties. So pick one night a week and start there!
