My Favorite Resources for Making Door Hangers

by | Dec 22, 2022

Where Do You Buy Your Blanks?

The majority of the time I cut my own door hangers with the RevolutionPly I purchase from Lowes. It’s a 1/4” or 5mm Poplar Plywood Underlayment. I actually wrote a whole blog post on choosing the right wood for door hangers. It’s a great resource if you want a little more information on the type of wood to use and what to look for specifically in each piece.

If you prefer not to cut your own door hangers, you can actually visit the “Wood Blanks” section of my shop. There are a ton of wooden blanks to choose from. All of the blanks are made from MDF and ready to paint. They come in 6”, 8”, 12”, or 20” options depending on how you want to use your finished project.

What Are Your Favorite Painting Tools?

If I had to choose my top three painting tools it would be a great set of brushes, Artistro paint markers, and sponge pouncers so that you can get the perfect dots! I love these brushes from DecoArt because there are a variety of paint brush types altogether in one pack. I recently came across Artistro Paint Markers and haven’t looked back since. I love how smooth they transfer paint and how easy they are to grab and finish up a project. You can use the code TAMARABEN10 for 10% off their entire catalogue on Amazon. If you’re looking for a variety of sizes in sponge pouncers for adding polka dots to your door hanger, then checkout these sponge pouncers I have in my shop. There’s twenty in a pack!

My Favorite Paint

If you’ve been following along for a while now then this resource comes as no shock. I use DecoArt paint on all of my projects. If you’re looking for a paint pack with a good variety of color options, I recommend checking out my Rainbow Paint Set. I had the pleasure of sitting down with DecoArt to choose paint colors to create this paint pack and it’s a great set to get you started!

Where Do You Get Your Ribbon?

I highly recommend finishing your door hanger off with a pretty bow. The key to a good bow is good ribbon, and good ribbon can be hard to find. It’s even more difficult to find unique patterns and colors. If you need a good place to purchase ribbon, go see what Deco Exchange has in stock. It changes weekly, so if you don’t see what you need, check back later.
